In cooperation with the European Renewable Energy Council (EREC) and Viena University of Technology, MAKK took part in a study aimed at supporting the elaboration of the RES National Action Plan to be submitted to the EU Commission in line with the RES Directive.

MAKK conducted a comprehensive cost benefit analysis of operational and further investment alternatives of the Bős-Gabcikovo Hydro Power Plant/Dam, originally planned as a Slovak.Hungarian joint venture in the 70’s-80’s, but eventually solely built in Slovakia in the 90’s.

On assignment of the Ministry of Environment, MAKK conducted an economic assessment of introducing Green Public Procurement for six product groups (with fuels, cars and energy efficient buildings and office equipment among them) listed in the Green Public Procurement National Action Plan.

As part of a research consortium (coordinated by ECN, Netherlands) this 2 year EU FP 6 project, - on the basis of a former tool SOCROBUST – developed a multi-stakeholder tool in order to enhance chances for societal acceptance of innovative energy technologies.

MAKK as contractor of COWI Magyarország Kft. participated in the project ”Analysis of prospective inclusion of the utilisation of renewable energy sources under Cohesion Fund and Structural Fund support”, which, for the National Development Agency, established the renewable energy investment support programs to be co-financed from EU funds.

Support schemes for promoting electricity from renewable energy (2002)
On request of the Hungarian Energy Office we assessed different regulatory schemes of promoting renewables in electricity generation.

The Danube Commissioner’s Office contracted MAKK to further develop and modify the energy generation model, which was originally developed by MAKK in 1999. The model is capable of simulating energy production scenarios of the Barrage System.
